Can you include your fstab?
It doesn't make much sense that the entire system would block on this,
since mysql doesn't really start on any blocking events.

Agreed. I think this has to do with the fact that the LXC 'ubuntu'
template does not fail on errors, and there are operations which it does
that may fail, such as chrooting in and installing things.
One hypothesis I have is that the lxcguest package isn't installed
successfully because the network

I seem to have fixed my NUT problem by upgrading my system to Ubuntu
11.10. (upsd 2.6.1)
I never resolved the issue on 11.04, but your udev rules file probably
would have done it, I would guess!

solution.
In the meantime, there's a problem with using any debian package from
within ec2 instances - you can't contact the repository to install any
packages, so using a package to fix the problem presents something of a
bootstrapp

configs for vsftpd are straight:
if shell is nologin, it should be /usr/sbin/nologin in /etc/passwd, it should
be mentioned also in /etc/shells, etc.
