Public bug reported:
After deploy of a maas setup, the different maas managed servers report:
instance-state: unknown
Why is that?
It's possible to juju ssh, ping the machine, ping the maas server from
the instances, do dns lookup of the maas server from the instances. It's
possible to do dns
@Stéphane: network-manager should also include a file in dnsmasq.d/ with
bind-interfaces. Can we track that need in bug #959037 and close this
report (#928524) as affects network-manager?

It looks like you have a previous install of tomcat6 which you removed
rather than purged and then remove the configuration files manually.
Please try purging tomcat6 and re-installing; this should resolve your

Thanks.

Ubuntu-specific patches have been incorporated upstream, so this request
is a sync rather than a merge. Those include emitting upstart events for
MAAS and the use of start-stop-daemon.

Just to be sure, I also tried UseCanonicalName off, but it didn't make

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.
This looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in
Ubuntu, so I'm marking this bug as Invalid.
You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here:
Dan,
It sounds like the package manager tried to fix all unconfigured
packages (as it is designed to) and this time you got the prompt for the
password.

I can reproduce this error in Percise. What's happening is that apache
is being restarted a second time to soon. I've included the postinst
script output below.
To test the theory I ran 'invoke-rc.d apache2 restart;invoke-rc.d
apache2 restart' - the second restart failed. If I add a sleep
This also causes the puppet init script to fail, at least for me, on precise:

The script restarts apache twice, and the second time the restart fails
because apache hasn't created it's pid file yet. So the init script

Sorry, I've been too busy / other problems since today.
I've upgraded the installation that was affected (3.1.19-1ubuntu3.12.04.1 has
been installed), removed the workaround in rc.conf, rebooted and works fine now!
Thanks a lot for the fix

I think this duplicates a couple of other bugs already in the system.
