This bug affects me as well, BUT: My VMs (also build with vm-builder) occasionally cannot be restored, although I use virtio for disk and network interfaces. However, I cannot reproduce the effect. Sometimes, it happens in around 1 of 10 attempts to restore the VM, sometimes I can save/restore
