blacklist by default and only notify about it but leave it to the admin
to actually perform the upgrade of this package. OTOH however this would
mean that when people explictely use really_stop = true it would still

I'm a proxy here, but I will forward the request.
I suspect that the error happend because cancel was clicked, I uploaded
a new debconf gnome version that will not show cancel (and the window
close button) when release upgrades are in progress so I think this part
of the bug can be closed.

I installed the slapd package with apt-get install slapd and did no
further modifications on the package. This was in a clean VM to test
package upgrades. It looks like this is the same bug as #276606.
If you still need the (unmodified) hardy slapd.conf, please let me know.
