Binary package hint: samba
This bug was very similar to many others that showed up on the automated
search, but mine says that error status 2 was returned, rather than 1 or
3 which the others returned.

I expected it to install,

I'm not sure, but I don't think so. I just checked the installed version in
Synaptic and it shows the latest version as 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5.4. The reason
I'm not sure about whether there's still a problem is that I am not
currently using Samba and don't know how to test whether it is actually
installe
I am still having this problem. In my latest system updates, I got the
same failure. I then tried to complete uninstall samba-common and samba-
common-bin. The uninstall failed with the same error, as listed above.
