For a home system, e.g. mine, where I have 3 or 4 accounts to check
(more when the kids get older, of course), the FD limitiation is not
significant at all, and of course IDLE is far nicer than polling,
especially on servers which limit how often you can connect, but have no
objection to IDLE
A suitable grep | wc pipeline could check and issue a warning, but the
whole point of my patch is that at the moment there is no way to have
more than one account if one of them is using IDLE.
There is no problem with having multiple accounts per daemon (config file) if
no IDLE is in use.

Hi. This is not a duplicate of bug 1194940. Essentially we need to make
sure open-vm-tools works with 3.11 and there is an additional bug
introduced because of 'readdir' transitioning to 'iterate'. So both are
issues for 3.11, and the other bug just affects 3.10.

I have the same problem.
Fresh install of Ubuntu 13.04 64bit.
NIS is installed, ypcat passwd returns proper passwd file.
I can log in as nis users, and all files and permissions are fine.
yppasswd results in Segmentation fault (core dumped) after entering new
password as stated above.

in a loop this weekend and passed every time.

Please do NOT promote this package, there is a better fix that can be
used and it currently being tested. I'll attach the new debdiff here
