It seemed to have resolved the issue until I performed a reboot and logged into a terminal console. Upon logging the opening session showed I still had the 39+ updates available, so proceeded run the update process with the following command: Sudo apt-get upgrade Being very optimistic, I thought

Thanks for the detailed information. It looks like the maintainer scripts are trying to stop mysql, and this hangs. I'm not sure why mysql can't stop. This could be a bug, or a configuration or corruption problem specific to your server. I'm going to leave the bug as Incomplete for now, since
