I believe most of this is fixed once we upload postfix 3.1 to Debian. Not sure
when it will get to Ubuntu.

Hit this too in Xenial. However, the error
"smtputf8_enable is true, but EAI support is not compiled in"
is not really minor. Postfix 3.0 introduced this as one of the important
new features, which the Xenial package (right now) doesn't provide.
