Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better, but unfortunately I've been unable to reproduce your
issue on Ubuntu 8.10.  It would be helpful if you could describe the
step-by-step process you did on the Ubuntu 8.10 server as well as the
Ubuntu 8.04 laptop.  Maybe even try booting from a Ubuntu 8.10 LIVE CD
to see if the problem still exists.  With the possible server-client
issue here, it is difficult to see if the problem is the server or the
client.  For example, can thet 8.04 laptop browser other Samba shares on
other servers?  It extra info would be greatly appreciated.
