Peter, i'd say that bug #477437 is more related to your issue than this
one. Since thierman, the original reporter, confirmed that the problem
was fixed after uninstalling bacula, I'm closing this bug. Please,
reopen it if you think otherwise.

The installation failed for me because of a missing 'postgres' user, so the bug
occured
when installing bacula and postgresql in one session using synaptic.
Installing and configuring bacula later (after its dependencies) might
solve the problem.

I uninstalled bacula and that seems to have removed the problem. Guess I
could reinstall it and see if I get the problem again...
