I also get such error today on eclipse startup in 11.04 :

Using the fallback 'C' locale.

If I run Eclipse Helios it will crash after UI is loaded. Messages in
the console:

@Martin, can you clarify what you are seeing? This bug report has
become somewhat confusing, and I'm not quite sure what part you are
experiencing.
