I received a reply from a developer on the upstream project. This switch
is omitted by design.
According to Thorsten Kukuk, Project Manager/Release Manager SLES SUSE
LINUX it's...
"Because you should not use it. It does more harm and creates more problems
then it is useful."

Indeed, still missing from the manpage in maverick too.
Note that the manpage in the upstream package
(http://www.linux-nis.org/nis/ypbind-mt/index.html)
also does not have it. Would you mind submitting a patch to the manpage to the
upstream
