dated April 16, 2012 would just half load and then I could not close it

I tried sudo -fqdn > /etc/mail (I substituted my hosts
name in the angle-brackets) and got (after entering my password)
[/etc/mail is my mail_directory]:
sudo : command not found
I even tried: hostname -fqdn > /etc/mailname and got:
bash: /etc/mailname: Permission denied
Trying sudo hostname
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better.
amavisd failed to start because /etc/mailname does not exist. You can
work around this by creating it, i.e.
sudo hostname -fqdn > /etc/mailname
Of course, it shouldn't fail because of that. amavasd-
new-2.6.5/
