Ok, so this seems to be the same problem as in Bug #123078. Setting power manager on from System->Preferences->Sessions makes the logout options show up normally. So I guess it is related to the hibernate etc. logout options.. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/123078
