Gives the error message;  E: dpkg was interupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. E: _cache->open()failed, please report. So I close Synaptic, open up an Xfce Terminal, alex@armani:~$ sudo dpkg --configure -a [sudo] password for alex:  Setting up linux-image-3

Another useful tip I found when using more than one non-identical displays (ie diff native resolutions) also install xrandr along with arandr. Then pick the largest screen resolution you want, find the scale ration between what you want and each of the native resolutions and use the xrandr com
