No, you don't need to to a clean install. When you put in the CD while
running 8.04 there should be a message, that a new version has been found or
something like that, there you can do a system upgrade to 9.04 directly.

I tried many of this score editors, Rosgarden, Denemo, and some other - I
can't remember the names. Rosegarden seemed to be very simple, so I used it.
And I'm using it nowadays too. (But it has sometimes bugs when printing the
file. or is it just my old version?)

Hi,
if you simply want to cut the wave-file into several pieces you can use
audacity. Just import the file there, select the part you want to seperate
and do file-export selection.
