Thanks All! This thread has just the kind of info I need and will help me make a short list.I plan to use Pure Data to do effects on my guitar (in particular a kind of live granulation patch I'm quite pleased with) which is why low latency would be good. At some stage I'll be recording that using a

Hi All,Has anyone used the EMU 1616m PCMCIA soundcard with ALSA and Jack? I need a low-latency laptop card with at least 4 channels of audio input for around $300 and this one seems like a good bet. It's in the ALSA soundcard list and I found this page:http://forums.audiofanzine.com/index,idtopic,3
Considering the Linux friendly I'd say Dell is your best bet. Orderit
with linux on it. You will have to reformat and install Studio but
atleaste you know you have all the drivers . Besides dell makes good
sturdy products.
