And why do you? On any HD, that is big enough for even a humble
A/V-Production another 100-200 MB for an Officesuite, that may prove
handy sometimes is irrelevant.

That I consider an excellent decision! One of the greatest pros for
Linux is that it does not paternalize the user with only one choice for
the DE. Maybe XFCE could remain the recommen
I think a DE-agnostic evolution is very desirable!
Also I agree that less (programs) is better. As much as I've learnt to
appreciate libreoffice, even installing it on kde, I don't see a point
to include it in Ubuntu Studio. That's what we've got repos for...
Thank you very much for your effo
I agree with Ralf.

Thank for all feed back.
I Have installed abiword. It's a good software. but i need a software
with more feature like libre office. I have a problem with abiword. I
couldn't see the table when i open docx file. So installed
libreoffice. I have founded no problem.
I think libreoffice is needed for
I think I agree with Ralf -- not a rare thing.
When I first learned about Ubuntu Studio I took the "for creative humans"
line seriously and I guess literally.
I am a film-maker and writer (sort of not-very-retired) and a serious
amateur fine-art photographer. Oddly, I never thought of Studio as sol
We're currently moving towards becoming desktop environment agnostic, so
that would leave us with these problems to solve:
When the user installs Ubuntu Studio, they will choose which DE they
want. We'll try to include as many as we can.
For XFCE it will either be xfce4 or xubuntu-desktop.

i am also in the opinion of saving disk space.. At times i am helpless that
some of the tools could not be removed unless the entire Audio is not
removed.. is that so or just i missed some other options?

I would remove Libre Office and install AbiWord. IMO it doesn't matter
what Office software is installed, it's easy to remove and/or install
other office software. Keep in mind that AbiWord is the default for
Xubuntu, so it's less work to make the distro. The smaller the DVD image
is, the faster we
I like the idea of including LibreOffice. It's what I missed most from
the DVD image. A complete package of office tools many would make use
of, IMO. But I am a 'general software single pc owner'. ;^)
Still, is LibreOffice what UStudio is about? Is it useful to many, or few?

I would certainly take the opposite view. I use studio for just that. I value
the space on my local hard disk for recording want as little on the machine
that may reduce that or slow it down. Is there a compromise? Say a package
extras as an option to include the more general software single pc
Hello Syamsul,
We are discussing whether to put LibreOffice into our DVD images. The
reason for us not to put it in before is that we are based on Xubuntu
(which same as us does not have LibreOffice as default). We might add
it to our future images. We will decide in due course.
Thank you for you
You could always download and use it...
