@Kevin Moving the ibus cursor with "zhong" works for me and on 3 other
machines I have tested it on. I would try and install unity 4.24.0 from
oneiric-proposed and see if that fixes this issue for you.

Okay, I logged in, and did the following:
-tried to change a keyring password, saw the untranslated strings,
-issued gnome-keyring-daemon --replace[1],
-tried again to change a keyring password, saw the translated strings.
[1]: results were:
$ gnome-keyring-daemon --replace

The proposed version works as expected.
I typed zhong into the search box, I saw the selection window and it remained
open after pressing backspace once or several times.

I see. Please just let me say that while the installer writes to
/etc/default/locale, it does not touch ~/.profile AFAIK. I don't think
the installer even tries to get it 100% right in all cases, but it
rather trusts that the user easily can fine tune the settings via

Hm, I fixed it by setting the correct locale in my installation, and the
person who reported it to me as well, so I cannot post the data from
those.
I've reinstalled on a virtual machine with Internet connection and
marking the checkbox to download updates on the installer. I couldn't
reproduce it
Why doesn't the language pack depend on the corresponding thunderbird
locale? Since thunderbird is shipped by default, the localisation should
also be available by default.
The distribution upgrade is also not handled by aptdaemon.

This looks to me as a duplicate of bug 534417, which becomes more
important now that we install Thunderbird by default, as users will get
