The updated .po files for update-notifier were creating some issues
because $package, which is a variable name, got translated in a few
locales when it shouldn't.
In such cases, it would be good to add a note to the translators with
the original string saying not to translate
Indeed, I would know how to do that for a .c source file but the
translation comes from a .data.in text file which is like that

.
$package
.
some extra text
and the translation system splits each line in a string to translate ...

Maybe you should edit line #12:
Last-Translator: FULL NAME EMAIL@ADDRESS\n
and replace FULL NAME and EMAIL@ADDRESS with your real launchpad full
name and your address.
Then you can go to the launchpad page where you downloaded toe .po
and click on the upload link.
