I can also attest to issues with Packard Bell support. After having to RMA

warranty period), I was finally placated when I got a full refund as
compensation... for them losing my laptop at the service center. Avoid at

This is going to happen even if you don't have Secure Boot. UEFI and
BIOS *do not* have compatible boot systems. You need a

I'll try to perhaps bring in the legacy drivers from the Hardy repos onto a
new Ibex system, and I may file a bug at Launchpad regarding the situation.

Hello everyone.
I'm not sure if anyone can help me, but I have a slightly old machine with
an integrated GeForce 4 MX GPU chipset.
Now, the last version I tried in Hardy had a bad compatability problem with
the (then) latest NVIDIA legacy drivers, and they simply refused to work,
namely Xorg would
I thought I'd ask here if you dont mind, but does anyone have any
recommendations on which laptop brands I should go for and which I should
avoid? Any help appreciated.

Hey guys,
Just need some quick advice on a good piece of software to convert my
audio library (currently in about 8 hours of music, mainly MP3 but a few
in AAC too) to Ogg Vorbis.
Cheers,

works fine with linux).
Last Seagate I had died after 5 months.

It's a matter of choice. I'm using Kubuntu right now (I've tried KDE4
but it is awful in my opinion)

Evesham's build quality used to be good. I bought a machine from them in '98
(before Windows 98's launch though, still had 95 on floppies) and the
machine lasted 8 years of constant use before the motherboard ps/2 ports
burnt out and the monitor (nearly) caught fire. Can't vouch for them now,

I'm with Orange for ADSL (I don't live in a cable area) and they aren't that
bad, fast speeds even on weekends. Used to be with Tiscali. Tiscali suck.
They block all P2P traffic (including Bittorrent, good for getting LiveCDs

Being a user of T-Mobile UK, I can testify that it is just £1 for a day's

I have an nVidia GeForce 4 MX integrated card. Do I need nvidia-glx or
nvidia-glx-legacy for hardware emulation?
