Not wishing to upset anybody, Sir. Problem only happened with a Region 1 disk, Region 2 is good. If due to drive region-locking after several changes, does not explain the drive "chatter" MS W7 will play Region one so if I use Ubuntu for Region 2 and Microsoft for Region 1, no problem. Drive

I tried deleting in terminal but did not. A DVD causes drive-chatter, sometimes a box of error messages, but no playback possible, just shows the disc title. Was good, looks like VLC corruption has developed. I'm hoping a complete removal is possible in terminal, is anybody able to tell me
