Well I now have this modem working with:
-eeePC
-XUbuntu 7.10
In writing up a how-to I'm repeating the process on my Dell Latitude
which has Hardy on it. But for some reason I'm struggling to get it
working.

the eeePC are on

I've been following the other threads about similar modems, but I
can't get past the fact that this device is being seen as a mass
storage device. dmesg gives:
