a while back someone here in Salem was looking to start the LUG back up,
back in either 2011 or 2012 forget who it was, but never heard whether it
came to fruition or not.
For all we know, the Salem LUG stayed inactive.

Oh, you would say that! :)
That's a fine time by me, but I have a previous commitment tomorrow night.
Might show up late, but I don't know.

I appreciate everyone's insights on the website. I see that the value
of the website would be making it possible to put content that doesn't
necessarily fit the LoCo Portal's template. It would also be a quick
and easy way for us to let people know about us and the various
locations we are on the w

Pat, for the release parties, make sure the venue is minor-friendly, since
we tend to have minors there. Hence why some people chose to go to an
arcade after the party. I'm honestly surprised Portland has arcades. XD
Don't quote me on the arcade part, it's been a couple of years since I last

Only way to be sure is to contact Canonical legal. AskUbuntu is a
StackExchange thing, but I'm not sure if they had to get approval. Maybe all
the Trademark disclaimers are enough. At Ubuntu Forums we are "official" and
hosted on Canonical's servers.

The only advantages I'd see, offhand, are independence and local
control. The wiki markup language used at Ubuntu is obscure and only
slightly less arcane than Hittite, making customization problematic.
There would also be fewer hoops to jump through in giving people access
rights. On the other han
Thanks for the detailed review of WordPress. Perhaps that's something the
team would want if it has some advantage over the wiki, but the point I
was getting at was actually just making it easy for folks who might need
to type in a URL and pull up the wiki. After reading your message, it

I can host at Mozilla's offices if I happen to be in Portland. But albeit I
do travel a lot.

On the issue of hosting an independent Ubuntu Oregon website, you might
want to consider Automattic's free WordPress hosting. In case you aren't
familiar with that service, let me elaborate.
Automattic is a primary vendor of WordPress-based hosting and products.
They offer free hosting under a wor

Let me check with some friends today. They may be able to provide a venue.
But be prepared to buy a bottle of vodka (or three). :)

Way back when I was the team contact (when we had regular irc meetings), we
would post a date and agenda on the team wiki then send a reminder email to
the list the day prior. We may have also updated the irc logon banner with
the meeting date and time.
