Sorry Pat,
The Oxide webview is definetely supported on Ubuntu desktops. I forward the
bug to the Oxide project for tracking the problem here as well.
At the moment I don't really have ideas what this can be due to.

To your question about bundling the plugin into a click/snap: you cannot
unfortunately. You would need a specific licence for redistributing the
plugin.
This explains why the plugin is searched for in standard, hard-coded,
locations in Oxide.

While testing the latest oxide 1.9.4 build, taken from the citrain build
(see ref. below), I have noticed that Google Maps and Google Calendar
are rendered bizarrely.
On further inspection, the viewport for the webview, as seen in

ok.
