I recently SOLVED this issue, sorry if I didn't wrote an update here.
The trick (I'm not completely sure) was going to KDE System Settings
Keyboard and mouse, and playing a bit with Enable keyboard repeat in the
Keyboard page.
Maybe I just activated then deactivated it, then my problems with
MIR for human-netbook-theme:
1. Availability:

Are you using a LiveCD? I don't have this problem on my X61 Tablet with
karmic installed, but I had this problem when running from a LiveCD (but
these days I run from a LiveUSB image, so I don't notice it anymore). I
reported this as bug 311362. A workaround was to kill gnome-screensaver

The nouveau kernel interface recently changed (twice) to 0.0.14. In
order to support a more recent nouveau stack (one which actually builds
against the 2.6.31 kernel, for example) in Karmic, we need to update the
libdrm-nouveau library built from the libdrm source package.

This problem is solved on my test gentoo install using the vanilla
2.6.31-rc2 kernel.

I have a ATI Mobility Radeon X600 (r380) with Mesa 7.4.1 glxgears show
1200-1500 frames in 5 seconds, but I only have support for OpenGL 1.4.
With Mesa 7.5-rc4 on Karmic I have support for OpengGL 2.1 but my
performance is ultra slow with 200-300 frames on glxgears.

Font smear very much still with us on karmic 2.6.31-1 as updated on
20090704.
Either Ubuntu never picked up the fix from upstream on bugzilla 21415 or
else the fix doesn't work or whatever.
For useful work on this IBM Thinkpad R31 it's still Intrepid which
doesn't smear. Jaunty and karmic do.
Could you please run `apport-collect 393041` to upload relevant xorg
logs to this bug report? (or failing that, at least /etc/X11/xorg.conf,
/var/log/Xorg.0.log and output of `lspci -vvnn`).

OK, applied patch to 173.14.20 and it runs equally well. I'm running it
now and no problems so far, other than the choppiness with compiz.

Unfortunately, the last driver also introduces other much more serious
problems for me. This is just a warning for people that might read this
ticket and think the x-swat driver will solve their problems.

for backlight support, it is using directly the nvidia chip to do so...

I have this problem and, for me, it *isn't* fixed by the 2.7.1 drivers.
Here is the relevant section from my Xorg.0.log file:-

This was on a normal installed system. I think you might be right about
gnome-screensaver because I later got crash reports about it, which I
disregarded because I didn't see the connection. But in any case, I
haven't seen this behavior in the last ten days or so.

Yes, but it'll take a few days. Rsync doesn't work for the daily
netbook-remix images, so I have to download the whole thing over again:

I just compiled i915 with the patch, updated initramfs and rebooted.
X started and I could login with KMS enabled..

It's working for me in Debian unstable extracting sisimedia_drv.la and
sisimedia_drv.so from the rpm package, copying them in
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers, with Driver sisimedia in
/etc/X11/xorg.conf:
