I have Ubuntu 9.04 and when I installed Firefox 3.5 and Opera any time I have flash streaming video cpu usage goes through the roof. My cpu fan kicks into high gear and doesnt stop till after i restart...even when I kill firefox or opera. Also I get random high cpu usage just from logging in.

What I saw today was that the X session somehow got disconnected from input devices. The mouse would move, but clicks and keyboard events were ignored. CTRL-ALT-F1 got to me a virtual terminal, where I could restart GDM, and all has been fine since. -- Jaunty X highly unstable
