GeForce 7050 PV does not work on karmic alpha-5 - shows video corruption
The attached Xorg.0.log.old is the log file when the screen corruption
occurs. This happens when there is no /etc/X11/Xorg.conf file.
With the attached Xorg.conf with log file Xorg.0.log, there is no screen
corruption.

GeForce 7050 PV does not work on karmic alpha-5 - shows video corruption
Hi,
same problem on Karmic, 64bit, Nvidia Go 7300 with xorg 1:7.4+3ubuntu7 and
gnome-power-manager 2.28.1-0ubuntu1

You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X,
reconstructing xorg.conf from memory (on another machine not booted and
i gotta run out the house):
Section Device
Identifier Builtin Default intel device 0
# I stole the identifier from Xorg.0.conf run with no xorg.conf
Driver intel
Option ForceEnablePipeA True
EndSection
...and that's it;
Well, I think we are not through with the problems with 865. More often
than not when the box is booting, X won't start and I won't get access
to the VTs when that happens. I can shut it down gracefully by pressing
power button or by using alt-sysRq keys. From another box through SSH I
get to see
lspci -nn | grep VGA reports following:
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc RV280 [Radeon
9200 PRO] [1002:5960] (rev 01)
Also 128MB, essentially identical to bagl0312
Fresh install of Karmic - I had tried all other suggestions but these
screwed it up too much so
Public bug reported:

Running from the CD with older version, had no problems. After install
the display flashes whenever there is disk access.

How does X proceed when no EDID info is available?
IIRC, there was an option in Gutsy Gibbon (or was it Hardy?) to choose
the monitor in the display applet. Generic LCD panel options were there.

No. Was it of any help to you?
Fourthly, I cannot confirm now, but as I recall, when I had this intel
945 card on a non EDID compatible monitor, even if I
to be completely honest with latest xserver-xorg-intel-2.9 I'm still
encountering problems with 2.6.28-13, so I used this:
xserver-xorg-video-intel_2.6.3-0ubuntu9.3_i386.deb (from jaunty I think,
not sure) - it works without any artifacts

I had the same Problem.
Just make the /etc/X11/xorg.conf look like that:
Section Device
Identifier Configured Video Device
EndSection
Section Monitor
Identifier Monitor0
Option DPMS
HorizSync 28-64
