I have installed Jaunty UNR on my Dell mini 12" and the xserver freezes
a while after logging.
It could be 2 minutes or 1h, only depends on what I'm doing: If I change
a lot between my desktops, or tabs in firefox or applications, it
freezes quicker than
I have 2 machines each with Ubuntu 9.10, and I have always been able to just
move the mouse to restore, so maybe machines later than pentium 4 do not
respond in this way.
Latest on freeze is that it froze last night while viewing photos, so is not
specific to whatever I am doing on the workspac
I would accept a debdiff to fix this locally in Ubuntu, but am unlikely
to work on this myself as there's higher priority stuff I should be
focused on.
However, I did look at the icon included with the xterm source package.
The icon appears to use the athena design, and I think we'd prefer an

The driver that Mandriva has includes a whopping 1.4MB (!) patch to the
old sis driver 0.9.1. They don't seem to be upstreaming that one. If
someone is capable to split the patch in smaller pieces and submitting

As per last comment, this is not a valid bug for xterm. Feel free to
let the kde folks know if you can verify it is indeed an issue with what
they're doing.

I'm not working the NVIDIA drivers. When I install them, on having
restarted this goes out for me:
Ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode
And I can't activate the escritory effects.

I'm running Debian unstable, and X.Org 1.7 just landed, which seems to
have a proper fix for this issue. The related commit is

I have tested today the proprietary-video-improvements PPA with my 64-bit lucid
(driver: 190.53-0ubuntu1).
I have also updated my lucid today with the new xorg-server version
(1.7.3.902-1ubuntu1).
However, I couldn't get nvidia drivers to work with it. 3D (and thus compiz +
emerald) was not work
As of Fri Jan 8 11:00:45 PST 2010, there has been no apparent change in
the behavior described in this bug report. The X screen is still split,
and ttys still don't work.
