With kernel 2.6.32-9-generic the logon screen does not freeze. With
kernel 2.6.32-10-generic it does.
Freez starts with display of the logon screen. No mouse, no keyboard.
Alt-Ctrl-F1-4 do not work. Alt-Ctrl-Backspace either. Alt-Ctrl-Del

After boot on this machine there is no visible mouse pointer.
Using the invisible mouse pointer I am able to open a terminal.
When typing in terminal moouse pointer change to text select shape and then
mouse pointer is working.

I have immediate Xorg crash when trying to see a video with any video player or
looking at youtube under firefox.
Just before the crash the screen show some biyarre appeter on the top left of
the screen.
It goes back to gdm immedaitely.

Using Rogers PPA xorg server 5:2.8.0-2-gb0aa94f and the actual main
kernel 2.6.31-16-generic did not solve the problem. Xorg was freezing at
GDM login prompt.

dawn2k, that is only a workaround but doesn't address the real issue. I
currently suspect that the specs on Synaptics site is outdated and that
there is another way of detecting multitouch which isn't specified.

I believe I have the same bug but I'm not sure.
We have some older Gateway T6524's running 32bit installs of Karmic. We
get flickering screens when launching some apps: Firefox, Google-Earth,
AutoCad, Blueprint software, Topographic software, and so on. Sometimes
the machine flicker on and off
Cruncher: that might explain some issues that someone else is seeing,
but I'm confident that it's not causing what I'm seeing. In comment #3,
I summarize some of my own troubleshooting. od -x on /dev/input/event1
sees the problem as well, and od uses blocking I/O, not SIGIO. Whatever
is broken

I have the same problems with multiple finger not recognized with my
dell adamo 13 - but with windows7 multitouch works perfectly fine. so
ive installed to newest (unstable) synaptics driver for my ubuntu 9.10:

I've noticed similar behavior to bug #415804 where the touchpad seems to
work if another USB mouse is plugged in at boot. It's doesn't always

I'm hitting the same problem now, having just updated to Lucid Alpha 2
from Karmic. Unfortunately, my libdrm-radeon1 is already at the correct
version and the problem persists. objdump -T confirms that
/usr/lib/libdrm_radeon.so.1 exports radeon_cs_create but I'm still

Never mind me I found an old libdrm in /lib. Deleting that fixed the
issue.
