It looks this bug is caused by vmmouse matching on two devices
/dev/input/mouse1 and /dev/input/event3, very seldom
/dev/input/mouse1 will generate a event which causes the button to be
pressed. Adding the following line to 'MatchDevicePath
/dev/input/event*' fixes the problem for me.
A colleague has a netbook with intel video, and he has lucid ubuntu netbook
remix installed.
If he plugs an external monitor with dual head, the effects are automatically
disabled.
This is way more elegant than just crashing :-)

Any status on this? My Lucid system has been DOA with checking battery
state for 2 weeks now. I have seen at least one intel xorg update and
now I don't get the low graphics mode warning, but it still locks up
at checking battery state. Is there anything I could provide to help
resolve this
FYI, Intel 855M...nomodeset doesn't seem to help.

I've the same problem with Radeon Driver and ATI HD4670 random
freeze with first black screen and after white /light grey screen .. and
necessary to do a hard reboot. ;)

I installed the 7.9.0~git20100418+gallium+r300.0490116f-0ubuntu0tormod version
on the Ubuntu 10.04 beta2 LiveCD from the PPA. After installing the packages
from PPA I executed these commands:
