here. If you experience slowdown and suspect it might not all be because
of GEM objects, please glance at bug #95 which was reported before
xorg-server ubuntu2 with the 114 patch went in, and claims that

On my last boot received the following dmesg output:

I think I've a similar bug. When I use OpenGL app, screen refresh start
to be really slow after a while (It can be 5 minutes or 2 hours... and I
can't really explain it with a specific action). Some points appear when
I move windows (after the freeze) and I can't use OpenGL app if I do
not
So with that xorg-server just needs a rebuild. If one is done for bug
565981 anyway, then this will just be solved along with it, otherwise
you have my ack to do a no-change upload for right-after-RC to get the
ddebs back.

So I have 2:1.7.6-2ubuntu7~xup2 packages from
ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates and it worked fine in the beginning and
seemed to help with the problem, but now I'm seeing 60%+ CPU (of one of
the two cores) being used in the Xorg process; laptop gets hot.
Nothing in xorg.log, nothing in
I stupidly tried stracing Xorg from a xterm on top of Xorg tsss :)
What's the proper way to look into the CPU consumption issue next time I
hit it? (just froze my laptop and had to reboot because of the strace,
so CPU is back to normal ATM)

in VMware Workstation with 3D acceleration turned on, host card is an
ATI Radeon HD 4850. It seems okay, I let it go for around the past 15
hours and memory usage is fine. I realize VMs do their own things

Matthew's lsmod command actually shows that the kernel module is loaded.
The error messages are from the Xorg log. It's the user-space
fglrx_drv.so that can't be found. Maybe Xorg isn't looking in the right
place for some
