Upgrading to xf86-input-wacom 0.10.6 should also solve this issue.
I can confirm that the workaround in comment #89 mostly works on an ASUS
M2400N. I could not boot with acpi=off as described in step 1, it
locked up with a black screen. I had to do a text-mode install instead.
After that, I continued from step 2 and everything went as described.

Some good news, some bad news. It does seem that the option prevents
the keyboard from being automatically added. Unfortunately, this meant
that after the upgrade I had no keyboard at all in X, which was a bit
awkward to say the least. However, my feeling is that this bug is
probably fixed in
Bryce, I filed this bug repport for lucid, which I think is the most
recent release.
