I have recently installed Kubuntu 10.04 LTS with the new nouveau driver. Most
things work fine, but sometimes I keep getting thousands of lines in the logs.

Yes, there should be enough memory (1 Gbyte) and swap (1,3 Gbyte).
Right now the memory usage is around 560 Mbyte and swap usage is around
15 Mbyte.
It is probably not Firefox itself, as you are saying, but some resources
it is using, which get stressed. Are you using a 3G connection as well?
