When I attach a second screen to my Thinkpad T61 and activate TwinView
using the Nvidia X Server Settings, the my touchpad becomes more
sensitive to horizontal movements and less sensitive to vertical
movements.

OK, I removed the Nouveau driver as well and X now starts with the NV
driver. I can freely login/logout and switch between KDE/fluxbox with no
black screen lockups. So this once more appears to be a video driver
issue.

I have been experiencing this as well.
I just (finally) got ubuntu up on my new x201 yesterday (was running
into the KMS error, before).
Yesterday I used the laptop all day without a problem, I was working
from home so it was just the laptop.

We've got 2.6.35 in MM, and that contains audio-on-hdmi. There's no
reason for users to use this driver over -ati, and it doesn't work with
the default Ubuntu configuration.
Please remove it from the archive.
