The revised patch also has problems - the cursor will sometimes be
replaced with a corrupted pixmap when it's unhidden. I think I've
identified where it behaves differently to the existing code, and I
haven't yet found any problems with the new patch.

THis is more information on the above xorg freeze. This time my notebook
was connected to a Toshiba LCD projector for a presentation. The
projection went on fine for some seconds and then suddenly the external
monitor went blank
Later on I found the ddxSigGiveUp message in the Xserver log.

In response to #59 please re read #54, in the latest versions i am
unable to see anything on screen apart from the vertical coloured lines
this applies to 2.6.32-22 and 2.6.32-23. If you have a way i can fulfil
your request then please let me know and I will attempt it. I still do
not understand
no crash report from apport. I'll turn my screensaver/powermanagement
stuff back on later today and get you some more debug info...assuming I
can reproduce it.

The missing effects in KWin may be a bug in KWin, mesa, and others and
you may file a new bug report for that.

Any news about this issue? During a usual 8-hour work day, I typically
have between one and three crashes, destroying all work, which makes the
system basically unusable for serious work. Thus, *any* help would be
