Hi, I did installed the 2.6.35 by uploading the package from the web then
running the installer but it doesn't fix the issue.
I should precise that I don't use a docking station but the VGA port straight
on the laptop.

I have a generic compal laptop without such physical button. However, I

I'm using U10.04 with compiz and GMA945 graphics. The way compiz blur

Yes but our xserver is from a post-squeeze release, as you can see by
the FTBS it doesn't build.
Here's how I patched nvidia-current which was in the same situation
hardcoding the xsfbs variables in debian/rules for example
diff -Nru nvidia-graphics-drivers-256.44/debian/control
I confirm that tob's workaround is working for me too ( as long as the
AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint TouchPad is the touchpad that xorg detects,

I found this bug report when I was searching for a fix for a similar issue.
In my case all you have to do is move a window and then immediately click in
another window.
There may be other ways to reproduce this.

I have a similar problem. Ramdom freeze, which I cannot reproduce.
Sometime I get the system up for 36 hrs uninterrupted , sometimes it
happens right after booting.
Regarding what florinar wrote on comment#2, I am also experiencing the
ramdom keyboard freeze. Could they be related?

Same issue for me too with Kubuntu 10.04, Thinkpad T42.
This issue does not occur when I use Ubuntu 10.04, which makes me wonder
whether its really an xorg bug or if it might be something else.

I have 82852/855GM and my system crashed everytime I tried to play video
in Totem. It also didn't want to boot, but enabling i915.modeset helped
with that.
After installing driver update from comment #36 and disabling modeset
workaround the system won't boot again. When enabling the modeset

Asus eeepc 1000h, Bios 2.204, Kubuntu Netbook 10.4.
I tested mainline kernel 2.6.34 and the messages don't show at boot time, but
still have a few messages in kernel.log.
Had to go back to stock kernel due to sound intermitent faults and issue with
ureadahead terminating with status 5...
