I can reproduce it while upgrading from a fresh lucid to maverick.
1. Install a fresh 10.04.1 and all updates
2. edit /etc/apt/sources.list to disable the universe repository
3. run update-manager -d or do-release-upgrade -m desktop -d
4. Installation fails with pkgProblemResolver::Resolve
I tried again last night and it seems that typing anything in to Konsole
causes the crash and if I don't go into the Konsole until half an hour
has passed since I booted it will still crash.

I am experiencing the same annoying bug - after upgrading my desktop to Ubuntu
10.4, my shift-key gets stuck. Since I also replaced my motherboard, GFX card
and CPU during the upgrade I suspected the hardware, but reinstalling the old

assigned to xfce4-volumed, I suspect instead a problem with the Xorg
input drivers / the kernel, that would trigger the key event more than
necessary when a volume key is pressed.

The problem is that the package xserver-xorg-video-v4l is demoted from
main to universe. Apt will try to find a solution for the xserver
problem by upgrading to the latest xserver abi (because of the breaks).
But it can't find one because there is no newer version of xserver-xorg-
video-v4l

Conflicts: xserver-xorg-video-6
(but that is a rather strong statement, though it will help the resolver
to deal with the situation).

[xorg-edgers] packaging needs update for r300g dri module rename
Running stable under test conditions reported above with 256.52. vdpau
now does not lock up computer, have not had locks ups during normal
compiz enabled ubuntu-desktop settings. Switching VT's also is ok.
