Basically, on Maverick, X fails to start properly for me on newer
kernels. Kernels up to 2.6.35-15 work just fine, but the later ones
don't. While booting, I get into a terminal login. If I run startx from

I reinstalled patch, which was one of the problems when installing it
first time. (It tried to call patch but it wasn't installed), then
reinstalled fglrx, which went through without problems according to the
installer. That being said, it still doesn't work right, and I've found my

to 7.8.2-2ubuntu2 solved the 2D perf issues - I now get video playback
fine. Reverting ia32-libs to the version generated before
7.9~git20100909 solved the Wine 3D performance.

Same here. Seems kind of related to the yet unaddressed failure to
resume from suspend. I'm pretty sure all this misery is caused by xorg
now. Current status of 10.10 and 10.04 in my book: Doesn't support 30-40
percent of all laptops. I'm not in a position to help out here, but I
wish I could.
