Same here. Seems kind of related to the yet unaddressed failure to resume from suspend. I'm pretty sure all this misery is caused by xorg now. Current status of 10.10 and 10.04 in my book: Doesn't support 30-40 percent of all laptops. I'm not in a position to help out here, but I wish I could.
