I too can report that X seems to crash when launching a KDE application
with this particular PPA enabled. Skype also causes it to crash (QT
dependency perhaps?)

I re-installed 10.04 on a different disk, and found that a fresh install used
the nouveau driver as well and that it too exhibited the screen garbage

Take a look at the screen shot. The bottom half of the checkbox dialog
is missing the Ok and Cancel buttons. The are of the dialog was not
painted. The background shows through.
