when you set your monitor resolution, it should automatically set log in
screen/ splash screen etc

Problem depens on me too. the normal radeon driver works but has some
graphic errors (screen). if i use the flgrx-driver it look better but my
mouse is jerking. dont know why. the cpu usage is also much higher in
unity as in gnome. in unity about 40-60% in gnome max 7% without any
open programs.

xterm fonts get corrupted while typing

I can confirm that this bug affect version 6.12.99 of xserver-xorg-video-ati.
With the 6.12.99 the system works well but, for example, it is really slow when
I try to see a flash video in full-screen.
I've added a ppa repository (xorg-edgers) to update this driver to the 6.13.99
but
sudo rm -f /var/lib/xkb/* does the trick. When a geometry file from
which these .xkm files are being generated is newer than the .xkm file,
remove this .xkm file and it will be regenerated,
This process can be triggered by gnome-keyboard-properties and friends
or at startup of the machine.

I upgraded from 10.04 (x64) to 10.10 and had 3D acceleration. Today I
re-installed 10.10 from scratch but 3D acceleration is no longer

inactivity, it does not turn back on.

I can't see all that is going on with your pc, but at least in the pic
you provide there is a reference to a kernel panic... can't tell if
anything with nouveau is going on. It would be extremely helpful if you
