I disabled my soud card (onboard) and everythings worked well. I didn't
have any problem. So it has to do something with the sound system or

After this post, from that date, i try with different configs and stuff.
Finally, configuring xorg.conf with some "modeline" on the screen
section, i got to make the new driver work...but...

Sometimes (not every time) when I wake up my laptop from suspend X server
crashes and I end up in the login screen and the previous session is lost.
I went through several logs and it looks like X server crashes because of some
segmentation fault.
Except now it won't give be back my full desktop effects where in the
fresh install it gave them to me without the proprietary driver. WTF?
So I get a choice between two monitors and good graphics. Thanks a
heap.

Problem resolved once I found instructions for manually removing and
cleaning up after the proprietary FGLRX. For my card it doesn't seem to
be required anyway. Back to happy computing. YAY. It sure would be
nice to not burn hours to days fixing things on every ubuntu upgrade
though.

Mystery deepens. i had a spare partition so I tried a clean install.
It worked! So I turned on the proprietary FGLRX driver. It (setting
monitors to be non-mirror) stopped working. So I removed the driver in
Administration->Additional Drivers. It worked again.

After further testing, I can reproduce this 100% of the time with the following
setup:
1) Laptop with external display attached and setup with xrandr (So 2 monitors
running)
2) Put laptop to sleep
3) Disconnect external monitor
4) Wake laptop
I am still experiencing this lockup at other times, b
Today I have faced with the similar issue in low graphics mode (VESA),
so it is possible that the problem's source is not in the xorg ati
driver.

I did a fresh install of 10.10 when it came out, and this began. I never
had this problem with 10.04.
The problem is, when booting (either cold booting or waking from
standby), the system works fine for some time, usually from 5 to 20
minutes. Then,
Verification done on Karmic but partial on Lucid
Tested and have the result on Intel B43 machine with following
procedure:
1. Install Ubuntu with Karmic CD
2. use gnome-display-properties and find out X can not have monitor EDID
information
The best resolution for the monitor is 1440x900, bu
