Seems to work, so here's how to reproduce. Notice that this will disable
the screensaver pinging of tvtime, so the screen saver can turn on if
you leave the machine. This should work in all Debian-based distros

It appears that the original fix for this issue has triggered a
regression on other systems. Upstream indicates that a slightly
different fix should be applied. Could those affected please test the
kernels at the URL below, these contains the original fix reverted and
brings up to the latest

The window manager controls where windows appear, so this bug should be
troubleshot from a kde/kwin perspective first.
If you can reproduce the issue on gnome, feel free to reassign to X, but
remember to always attach your log files. 'ubuntu-bug' and 'apport-
collect' are your friends. :-)

Somehow compose cache is disable in libx11. This trigger a slow path in
libx11 _XimParseStringFile function.
It could be easily detected by valgrind tool callgrind running on any X
application with more than 500 000 calls to getc comming from
_XimParseStringFile.
