thanks for helping. With sometimes I meant that fail-safe boot does
work, but normal booting (with KMS on) is not.
The black screen appears right after the initial stage (with the
blinking cursor), so it might have something to do with KMS. I can see

may be related to using the eZoom. Despite crash, I still have 3D hw

The workaround for the moment is to remove the option to stop the
touchpad whole typing (somewhere in the mouse options... sorry I'm not
in front of my pc at the moment).
The other workaround is to kill the daemon as soon as it goes crazy :)
But these are no solutions, just workaround...

How is this Fix Released? These drivers aren't packaged in Ubuntu, and
even when installing them, they still don't match ABIs (and yes, I was
sure to get the right driver for the supported cards according to all
these instructions).
The fix isn't released unless I can install the driver with
nvidia-current : 270.30-0ubuntu3 in natty/restricted, matches the
current ABI. Reverting to Fix Released.

Thanks. I finally got the proprietary driver from Nvidia to install and
it's working so I'll leave well enough alone and hope that they fix the

Wrong Keyboard
I also experienced the same error, however the system was able to

754344, I think that means it has an ALPS trackpad.
Whereas I think your result with tpconfig means you have a Synaptics
trackpad. So I don't think these two are dupes.
