Looks like AMD has a questionable Optimus alternative in the works.
It's called BACON and is muxless.
Plus, no OpenGL on the dedicated card.

I have just installed 10.04.02 on a Macbook Pro 15 5,1.
It is most frustrating to have to use an external mouse to do such a
simple thing as pick up a window by its title bar and move it.
When will this be resolved, its been like this for 2 years it

I also have the problem of video tearing since upgrading to 11.04. The
hardware is H55M-S2H M/B, i5-650 CPU, integrated graphics using i915
video driver.
The problem is evident when using (s)mplayer and mythtv, but not with
totem and vlc.

I found a fix, at least for my system, in the Debian User Forums:
http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=7t=65539 Lost 3D after
updating nvidia-glx, linux and X.
Someone advised installing/updating the following packages:
libegl1-mesa_7.10.2-3_i386.deb
libglu1-mesa_7.10.2-3_i386.deb
About my comment #108 -- if a package is missing, don't install it. You
don't need it. Just reinstall the packages listed above that you already
have installed.
Cheers.

According to https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30052#c17 this
seems to be fixed in recent kernel releases. I think that the patches
fixing it should be backported!
I can't reproduce this bug on 2.6.39-git19 and 3.0-rc3.
Seems bug fixed.
Thanks!
