Attached is a quick patch that inspects that valuator accesses do not go

Public bug reported:
What I was trying to do was installing the latest ATI Proprietary drivers
available from the Additional Drivers installer.
I was expecting after a restart that my computer would have a fully functioning
graphics card.
Instead of properly working graphics support my computer
I'm also running 64bit oneiric, and qbzr is a 64bit app causing
problems.

Screen corruption when
While the orig. bug was filed on a 32 bit desktop am currently using a 32 bit
install on a laptop just booted to todays daily 64 bit
Installed vlc, tried to open the playlist easily seen.
Terminal showed errors as in descript (X Errors), .xsessions shows 1000's of
compiz (opengl) - Info:
Since I have that problem on a Intel mobility card, I'd rule out the
video driver (or it's a common issue to nvidia / i915, which makes it
less likely.)

Even I'm badly affected by this bug. Is it resolved in Ubuntu 11.10?
Mine is: $ lspci -nn | grep VGA
00:05.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation C51G [GeForce
6100] [10de:0242] (rev a2) running on AMD Athlon 64 32 bit. Above solution is
no good for me.
