I've followed Steffen's instructions, including installing normal fglrx,
then downloading the ATI driver from
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/linux/Pages/radeon_linux.aspx,
purching fglrx and fglrx-amdcccle then installing the new drivers. After
a reboot I come to blank screen. I can boot
I have the same problem with vino-server in an oneiric system with a ATI
Video (ATI Technologies Inc RS880 [Radeon HD 4250]), but not running the
fglrx proprietary driver. What I get is a session with sporadic updates
- I can get the screen updated by wiping a terminal window around the
screen. So
Unbelievable. The problem is that the contrast is set to 0 (black
screen) when executing the command. I can turn it up manually and
everything is fine. So the bug is invalid
** Changed in: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu)
Status: New = Invalid

*contrast = brightness

I have a Gateway LT3103u.
I've finally found a way to reproduce the corruption I experience
reliably- I point Firefox 7 at http://google.com/nexus . Not sure what
it is on that site that triggers it, but
I've had corruption on Natty 64 bit and Maverick 64 bit too and am
currently running lucid
Sorry about the truncated above. I just testted this site, and get the
same result as wess (as above)
Not sure what it is on that site that triggers it, but

Just checked GNOME Shell on the same machine, and I can't reproduce this
issue there. This seems Unity-specific.
