To make the corruption disappear, all I did was click the window
maximize button twice, forcing an X redraw.
Notice that in the corrupted image, there is a strange, aside from the
obviously missing text both above *and* below the cursor position, there
is an odd artifact showing just to the right
Note that the images in #20 and #21 were with the proprietary nvidia
driver.

Chris: During the LTSP hackfest we did some tests on Oneiric and it
looked a lot like this bug. I did a test build adding the same patch to
the Oneiric package and the build succeeded. I'm still waiting for
someone to actually test the package though.
It indeed looks like this bug should be fixed
Hmm, the patch is indeed applied twice in my package, quite surprised it
actually worked ;)
So Oneiric indeed contains the fix, just not quite sure why it didn't
work in our tests...

I'm seeing this too. Clean install of 11.10 on a ThinkPad T520
(SandyBridge chip).
Using a vanilla GNOME 3 session (No Unity, no compiz) - same symptoms: X
hangs but machine is otherwise OK.
Alexandre mentioned VMWare... For me, this is semi-reliably reproducible
by running 3D applications in a
besides vlc also flacon (https://launchpad.net/~flacon/+archive/ppa) has
problems, rather it is not started even

on Lucid, since whichever update, GDM no longer displays a usable
greeter content. Instead, the mouse cursor leaves a trail of its pointer
icon in it and the face browser that should appear isn't there. This was

provision for the gcc version override option that the nvidia

This problem can be encountered when shutting down Ubuntu 6.06/7.10
This problem is present even when the default settings is changed to
1280x600x32
The screen becomes black and everything appears to have 'hung'

For the past week the game has been unplayable for me. I was on version
0.82.7.1 of the game. Extremely slow to the point where i could not even
try playing it (~ 2-3 frames per second). I did not save any game logs
at this point unfortunately.
I updated to the new version (Spring 83.0)
