fingerprint sensor was showing a green light. But the fingerprint gui is

my bug # 897681 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug . while it
may relate to this bug in the fact that nvidia 173 does fail to install
, that is not why I filed the bug . The reason I filed that bug is that
even if the 173 driver compiled and installed perfectly IT IS THE WRONG

This is a fairly common error with ATI Catalyst, but it was supposedly fixed in
Catalyst 11-8 (and you appear to be using Catalyst 11-10). Since you're using a
version of Catalyst not specifically tested with Ubuntu, I'm guessing the
Ubuntu devs will not touch this one. My suggestion to you
Comment #53 is also reproducible for me, on openSUSE 12.1 with KDE 4 and an ATI
Radeon card and driver.
Run xterm, ls -l of a large directory, scroll back a couple of times, and you

I end up in this state after a USB-boot, so I have not altered to system
