Maybe this was caused by a kernel configuration error.
It happened to me with archlinux, the ttys in blank and openchrome
crash, I'm testing but after today's update the ttys (ctrl + alt +1.2
etc) are displayed correctly.

X crashed just as I tried clicking to make sure that the bug was still
there, breaking the “apport” run. Probably not related; it crashes all

I don't think it's related. I don't see any reports of X crashing here,
just inability to use external displays. Furthermore, the bug referenced
in that changelog entry was introduced in the 295 timeframe and this bug

There is a known bug in the driver that resulted in momentary hangs
during modeswitch for some FBO applications. It was fixed in the 295
timeframe. The first public driver with the fix was the 295.17 beta.

Indeed, I can confirm that with the recently released stable 295.20
driver version the problem went away and no more hangs are experienced
after resume and the desktop is immediately responsive.
Switching to the console and back also works fine, although there seems

confirmed the segfault in lucid following the steps to reproduce (xvfb
2:1.7.6-2ubuntu7.10). I've also confirmed that the xvfb version i'm
using in oneiric does not have this issue (xvfb 2:1.10.4-1ubuntu4.2)

While permorming install of 3.2.6 kernel packages I got this error from
nvidia-current and I get it repeatedly when I reboot, even with my older
2.6 kernel.

This may have a similar root cause as bug #932439, although the symptoms
are different.
If you downgrade -evdev does it restore the proper behavior? If not,
this might be a regression in the xserver or kernel.
You may still have the older driver in /var/cache/apt/, or if not you
can download
The evdev package depends on xorg packages..
So, when I am downgrade xorg and evdev - yes. it works right again after this...

Is this an xorg-server bug or upgrade-manager? Bug #883618 appears to
be the same problem, and still occurs on precise upgrades.

Interesting, thanks. Just so I'm 100% clear, can you list the versions
you tested and which worked and didn't work? That will help me isolate
which change caused the
